Intro to Yoga

Have you always wanted to try yoga but didn’t really know where/how to start?

Maybe yoga has been recommended to you by friends or a medical professional but you still haven’t tried it?

Not really sure what yoga is or what the hype is all about?
Maybe you’ve tried YouTube videos at home and gotten distracted or haven't been consistent?

No worries, we got you!

Yoga can sometimes feel like a secret society with words and phrases that are the opposite of clear and fast-paced classes where the teacher doesn't even seem to speak English.

Come learn and experience the profound benefits of this 5,000 year old practice for yourself in a non-judgmental and intimate space in our yoga community.

Yoga is great for both your physical and mental health. During class you are encouraged to connect to your breath, notice sensations in your body. Notice the difference between movement and stillness, and find presence and comfort even in difficult spaces. Find self-love and care, become aware of your limits and when to rest and when to push (and hopefully you continue this practice off the mat in your daily life).

This class is great for folks that are brand new to yoga, wanting to restart their practice after an injury, pregnancy or just time away and for folks that have practiced for years.

In this class we discuss and embody the benefits of yoga (science-backed and spiritual), different styles of yoga and how to make the practice more accessible for your body.

Bring any questions you have and we will set you up for beginning or continuing your yoga practice.

Yoga for empaths

Are you an empath or highly sensitive person (HSP)?

An empath is a person that is sensitive to the feelings of others. It’s like compassion on overdrive, not only do we feel for other people, we can sometimes take on the feelings of other people.

Often empaths are healers by profession: yoga teachers, therapists, nurses, doctors, caregivers etc.

Being an empath is a beautiful gift and can also be overwhelming and draining. In order to protect yourself, and your energy it is helpful to be aware of how you are feeling and find practices to protect your energy before you are overwhelmed.

Yoga is a great tool to help you both gain self-awareness of how you are feeling, strengthen your intuition and to reset your body physically and emotionally when you are feeling drained or overwhelmed.

During class we move, breathe and rest together to protect and harness your beautiful light-filled energy so that you can avoid feeling drained by the energy of people around you.

“Movement keeps us flexible so our muscles don’t contract and hold in negativity”

“Movement melts stress and relaxes us. It gets our endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers) flowing and decreases stress hormones.”

(Quotes from The Empaths Survival Guide by Judith Orloff)

As Empaths it is very common to feel misunderstood and like an outsider so another benefit of joining this class is to find a supportive community of people that “get it.”

We begin with a movement practice that remains the same every week and end with healing Reiki Infused Rest (with consent, you can opt out of receiving Reiki).
